I Love history, I love it when I can trace my way back and see who I am and where I came from anyway..

One doe snot really realize what life has to offer until one beginds to see what life had... We look around and see what this county has became aond we wonder what our partis in it, but what do we do?  In 1609, The American colonies were packed up and ready to leave for England, they  had fought Indian wars, and were loosing, they had ran out of supplies and were ready to head home,  they did not. For as they were starting there departure, three ships from England came sailing in. All funded and finaced by Thomas West. De La Warr.  Thomas was interested not only in the coloney, he had came to fight .  He succeeded in keeping the colonist in America and being named Govenor for life of Virginia.. He set sail back for England to help the colony and to bring more supplies and perhaps more people to America..  Upon returning again to the Americas,he died, and was buried in James Town, his grave being discoved in 2006.
I have so many questions about him.. Who was he really, was he kind, What was his reaction when he first saw this Land America?  Did he fall in love with it.. How did his family get here? For they did.
I wonder at time how they felt those women who sailed the seas.. How did they feel as the land began to disappear, and then the weeks and weeks it took to this new land.  Did they dream of home and of loved ones. Did they bury children at sea.. Did some of them come in later life, leaving children and grandchildren behing?  We know of the men, but what of the women who stood behind them ..   Strong women, who came, willing or not. Who died in a strange land.   I wonder if they stood sometimes and looked at the Ocean and wondered if they would ever see there native land again. Very few did.  Those that stayed raised children  here. Children whom became Americans, who called this land home.
